Tri-Rail Rules & Regulations
 
   

Proof of Purchase
Tickets must be purchased before boarding the train. Tickets are not sold onboard trains. Tri-Rail fare inspectors randomly check for proof of ticket purchase. Failure to have a valid ticket as proof of purchase is punishable as a criminal offense and violators will be subject to a fine from $50 to $1000, arrest, and/or removal from the train.

Payment Method
Tri-Rail accepts U.S. currency, personal checks* or the following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard and Discover*.

*Personal checks and Discover credit cards are only accepted at stations where a Ticket Agent is present and ARE NOT accepted at ticket vending machines.

No Smoking
Smoking is not permitted on Tri-Rail trains.

Food and Drinks
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted in designated areas only. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted on any of Tri-Rail's trains.

Pets
With the exception of service animals, large animals are prohibited on the trains. Small pets are permitted if enclosed in a proper carrying cage.

Baggage
Passengers may carry bags onboard, but please do not block seats or aisles. Luggage racks are available on all northernmost cars. Tri-Rail is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Train personnel are not required to provide baggage assistance. Customers must limit baggage to no more than three (3) pieces of standard size luggage which they can carry onboard in one trip.

Proper Attire
Shoes and shirts are required.

No Feet on Seats
For the benefit of all Tri-Rail passengers, please do not place feet on the cushioned seats.

No Solicitation
Solicitation or picketing is prohibited.

No Littering
Please take any trash (shopping bags, newspapers, etc.) with you when you leave the train. Trash receptacles are provided at each station for your convenience.

Radios/Tape Players
For the comfort of all Tri-Rail passengers, the playing of radios, cassette players, video playback devices or musical instruments is not allowed except with the use of personal headphones.

Lost Items
If you lose an item on a Tri-Rail train, please call our Lost and Found Hotline at 1-800-TRI-RAIL (874-7245).

Firearms/Weapons
State law prohibits the carrying of concealed firearms. It is also unlawful for any person to openly carry any firearm or electric weapon or device. Persons in the possession of a license issued by the State of Florida to carry a concealed weapon or firearm are exempt from the concealed weapons prohibition. Bicycles
Bicycles are allowed only in accordance with Tri-Rail's Bicycle Permit Policy. Click here to view the policy.

Surfboards
Surfboards are not permitted on the trains.

For Your Own Safety
Please stand well behind the yellow safety line on Tri-Rail station platforms and remain seated while the train is in motion.

Exiting Trains
Be prepared to disembark immediately upon arrival at your destination. Train stop average is approximately 30 seconds.

Parking Lots
Station parking lots are provided for the commuting public. Tri-Rail is not responsible for theft or for damage to personal property.

No Explosives
Explosives and flammable materials are not permitted onboard.
